WHEN PG Wodehouse famously wrote that 'it is not difficult to distinguish between a ray of sunshine and a Scotsman with a grievance', he may very well have had Bobby Williamson - or one of his ancestors - in mind.

The calendar year just past certainly brought its fair share of grief for the Hibernian manager. Like many of his contemporaries, he has been forced to prioritise financial decisions over footballing ones. Unlike them, though, he also had to cope with a distasteful and very public dispute over his contract - when it was revealed in October that he was effectively working his notice at Easter Road.
