HALIFAX is to raise the cost of using its credit cards abroad just as the holiday season starts. It is increasing commission charged on foreign transactions from 2.75 pc to 2.95 pc.

The increases will come into force 30 days after cardholders' most recent statements, so many will see a hike at the start of August.
