BRIAN CLOUGH didn't go to Brighton and Hove Albion until the 1973/ 74 season (Letters), taking over in November 1973. I remember it well, because I was there, supporting my team Bristol Rovers, as were the TV companies in anticipation of a fantastic result for Brighton.

Sadly for Old Big Head and Brighton, Rovers (managed at the time by Don Megson, father of Gary, Bolton's manager) didn't stick to the script and thrashed them 8-2. That season we swept all before us -- except Oldham, who beat us to the title, though we were also promoted..
