AS BEFITS Britain's premier baronet, he is one of the country's finest shots. But for Sir Edward Dashwood, whose kinsman founded the notorious Hellfire Club, his favourite guns have been unexpectedly silent.

Nearly 18 months ago, Sir Edward, whose ancestral home of West Wycombe Park, Buckinghamshire, has been the backdrop to countless films, including The Music Lovers, sent three prized Purdeys -- worth around Pounds 120,000 -- to a gunsmiths for valuation.
