Summary

KARINA OAKLEY is achieving good things (Mail), and her parents should be proud. But my understanding is that the sort of things she's doing are the usual basic abilities for a two to three-year- old. We're just a normal, working-class family from a council estate in Kirkby, Liverpool, but I'm terribly proud of my daughter, Hollie, who has known the alphabet since the age of one and has very good verbal and numeracy skills. At the age of two, she understood the process of photosynthesis and started to learn Spanish. Now three, she's learning Chinese. She has taught, corrected and amazed me numerous times.

She attends an afternoon placement at St Joseph's, our local Roman Catholic primary school, as well as the Kids In Bloom private nursery three days a week while I work as a medical receptionist. Every day, the Kids In Bloom staff have another funny tale to tell me about the amazing things Hollie has done.
