ON A recent discussion on the Pat Kenny radio show I was annoyed at how both representatives from the Government side, Minister Dermot Ahern, Fianna Fail, and Councillor Brian Meaney, of the Greens, were permitted to hog the show for almost 20 minutes, while MEP Joe Higgins, who had also been invited to participate, was allowed only one minute.

From a representation point of view, Mr Ahern would have received 15,000 votes in the last general election; Mr Meaney probably received 800-1,000 votes when elected on to Clare County Council; while Mr Higgins would have received 75,000 to 80,000 votes in the European election.
