THE court case being brought against the State and the Minister for Justice by former taxman James Livingstone is a timely reminder of the dangers of what law enforcement agencies like to call profiling and what the rest of us call stereotyping.

An American Justice Department study published just after Mr Livingstones wife, Grace was murdered showed just 16 per cent of murder victims had been killed by their spouse significantly less than the number killed by strangers.
