SCOTTISH Power finally flung itself into the Pounds 11.6bn embrace of Spanish suitor Iberdrola, becoming the fourth British FTSE 100 firm to fall for the charms of an Iberian admirer in the last two years.

The agreed cash and paper deal, valuing the Glasgow-based energy company at 777p a share, was given a lukewarm response by the City which had hoped for 800p.
