THE RFU confirmed last night that their task group investigating misconduct within English rugby will grant all players, coaches and officials immunity from prosecution, in a calculated gamble designed to help clean up the sport.

After a summer of scandal prompted by drugs-related issues at Bath and the Bloodgate affair at Harlequins, officials at Twickenham are determined to establish the extent of illicit activity and flush it out. In an attempt to do just that, they have decided that whistleblowers will not face any disciplinary action.
