WOMEN who use a single embryo for IVF treatment are just as likely to become pregnant as women who use two embryos, according to new research.

IVF clinics have been under pressure from regulatory bodies to reduce the number of embryos implanted. In the past some doctors have used three or four eggs when treating patients. But even using two eggs is unnecessary, according to studies published in the journal Fertility And Sterility.
