ENGLAND'S worst fears were realised yesterday when Andrew Flintoff was forced to fly home from the Indian Premier League with an injury that threatens one of the biggest summers in their history.

The injury-prone all-rounder, crucial to England's hopes of regaining the Ashes, will have an operation on his right knee after being diagnosed with a torn meniscus and will be out for up to five weeks.
