JEFF YOUNG was there at the dawn of the second Welsh Golden Era, winning a Grand Slam in 1971 despite having had his jaw broken by Colin Meads.

A wing commander in the RAF, the Lions hooker had been granted leave from his base in Yorkshire to make Wales's pioneering trip to New Zealand in 1969, when the legendary 'Pine Tree' hit him during the first Test in Christchurch.
