AMID the deafening chorus of criticism of the Diana memorial fountain, one voice has remained silent - that of the driving force behind the project and the Princess's close friend, Rosa Monkton.
But yesterday, after two members of the judging committee that selected the controversial water feature broke ranks to attack the design, Ms Monckton publicly spoke up for it. 'I stand completely behind the design we chose,' she told me, 'and my view has not changed.' Her two fellow judges, newspaper art critic Richard Cork and the architect Edward Jones - who was behind the Royal Opera House and National Portrait Gallery rebuilds - claim the wrong design was chosen.
