JENSON BUTTON received a typical welcome to Sao Paulo. As he turned up at Fogo de Chao, a steakhouse boasting 15 cuts of meat, he was greeted by Vesgo and Silvio, two of the city's finest humorists.

They had a ladder ready. The joke was that Button, the world championship leader who heads into tomorrow's Brazilian Grand Prix knowing he will win the title if he finishes third or better, would be tricked into walking under it. He did. The omen did not deter him, and he stopped to do an interview with the comedy pair. In fact, he was marginally more worried about a minor stomach upset and wrapped up in a black zip-up cardigan.
