A LETTER sent to the manager of Youlbury Scout Activity Centre in Oxfordshire reads: 'It has been brought to our attention that wooden pallets from businesses have been accepted by your centre for disposal i.e. used for fuel in camp fires.

'Please be advised that this activity is unacceptable for the following reasons: wooden pallets are treated with pesticides. The burning of treated wood is an offence under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
