YESTERDAY, I mentioned that some of my colleagues expect the financial markets to rise slowly and fall sharply several times before full recovery. But what does full recovery mean? If the economy were a patient, we might expect it to emerge from intensive care and eventually lead a normal life. 'Normal' for the economy, though, usually means growth. Growth tends to be at the direct expense of the environment. My own reading of the Saturn-Uranus opposition that dominates the sky until 2010 is that we will never go back to this. The next phase of the future involves 'conscious capitalism'.
