PASSING the school office the other day, I heard the perfectly innocuous sound of parcel tape being ripped and my whole body tensed. Suddenly, I was back in Bolivia, a pistol at my head and my body quaking in terror as masked men ripped parcel tape to bind my hands and seal my mouth.

It's seven and a half months since Mum and I were kidnapped at gunpoint. The terror, the guilt and the pain are fading. But I'll never completely forget it. How can I?
