SHARES in retail group Kingfisher got off to a flying start on the back of rumours of renewed bid interest in the B& Q owner. The most likely suitor, traders chirruped, was Home Depot, its US rival.

It is not the first time Home Depot's name has been linked with Kingfisher. As far back as 2000 there was talk of an offer winging its way across the Atlantic.
