THE Church of Scotland was at the centre of a medical ethics row last night after a senior figure backed the use of terminally ill patients as 'guinea pigs' for stem cell therapy.

Despite concerns that it could devalue human life, Dr Donald Bruce said the research could be ethically justifiable in certain circumstances.
