THE Leaving Cert stood accused of dumbing down yesterday, following publication of a report showing widespread grade inflation.

Members of the Network for Educational Standards have tracked awards over almost two decades and have discovered that there has been a 70 to 100pc increase in the number of students gaining A and B grades.
