A WEEK on& and what was being hailed as recently as the weekend as Brian Lenihan's masterstroke is looking less and less like a model for other European governments and more and more like what it really was, a kneejerk reaction to unstoppable external forces that was cobbled together at the last minute.
This newspaper was almost alone in warning last week that there would be trouble coming down the tracks. It gives us no pleasure to point out that we were right; nor to point out that what is now coming faster and faster down the tracks increasingly has the look of a runaway express train.
