JUST another day in paradise. The gentle wind cools the air and creates white lace fringes on the waves of the Med as myriad diamonds dance across the sea.

From my broad sweep of terrace, no more than 100m from the water's edge, I can see across to Africa. Flame-coloured geraniums bob in the breeze, in perfect relief against the brilliant blue sky, and I lie on a banquette in my bikini, lost in a book, turning a golden shade of brown.
