A LIVERPPOOL builder has received the Military Cross for saving an officer during a gun battle near Basra last July.

Michael Davison, 21, of the King's and Cheshire Regiment (Territorial Army) had never been in action before, but braved continuous enemy fire to run from cover and drag the wounded lieutenant to safety.
