FINANCE Minister Brian Lenihan said low euro interest rates and cheap labour from eastern Europe after 2004 were the main reasons for the overheating of the Irish economy, which led to the recession. For the first time in my life, I agree with a Fianna Fail minister - but only up to this point.
He failed to mention it was the Maastricht Treaty that gave us the euro and inappropriate interest rates and the Nice Treaty that gave us the ten accession states, leading to mass immigration to Ireland.See the full content of this document
