DAVID O'LOUGHLIN finally secured his Olympic place yesterday - but the cyclist insisted he never doubted that he would be Beijing- bound in August.

After prolonged and intense lobbying by the Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI), the International Cycling Union (UCI) finally granted the Mayo native a slot in Beijing, where he will compete in the 4km individual pursuit.
