Summary
I'm always wary of trends that feel like a game of dress-up. Nautical, for example, can mean simply wearing a striped top or it can mean wearing the same top with navy clam-diggers, red shoes with an anchor pendant topped off with a peaked captain's cap and a parrot on one shoulder. Working the homespun trend can simply mean including a crochet-trim skirt in your wardrobe or it can mean looking like an extra from The Waltons.
I prefer trends like floral, origami or stripes - you know, ones that allow a loose interpretation. This way is safer and less likely to leave you looking like you are going fancy dress. It is also a less faddy way of working a trend.See the full content of this document
