FOR those who never have and never will know better, the world of Gaelic games is regarded and derided as a refuge for scoundrels. It is purportedly a place where anything goes and discipline is a 10- letter word to be found in the dictionary. If you could be bothered looking.

Those of us who like to think we know something about Gaelic games and the organisation that runs them, the GAA, know that such a perception is wildly off the mark. In general, Gaelic games provide a safe, healthy, physical, friendly and competitive diversion from the norms of everyday life.
