Summary
WE WERE on holiday when our neighbour smelled gas coming from our kitchen. The police and gas company had to break in to deal with a leak from the cooker. Repairs to the door and frame cost Pounds 790. Our insurer, Saga, rejected the claim - despite our policy guide saying we are covered 'for any damage caused to your home should emergency services have to force entry'. Saga's underwriters London & Edinburgh said the policy conditions covered us only for a medical emergency break-in, not for a break-in to reach a gas leak.
