PRESIDENT McAleese strongly criticised the world famous Nazi- hunters of the U.S. based Simon Wiesenthal Centre in a speech in Limerick yesterday. The President was visiting the Hunt Museum to view some of the priceless exhibits collected by John and Gertrude Hunt over their lifetime.

In 2004, the Wiesenthal Centre wrote to President Mary McAleese accusing the Hunt family of links with the Nazi party and suggested that some of the treasures they had collected had been stolen from wealthy German Jews.
