ALEX McLEISH exercised his right to remain silent when asked about a message from Sir Alex Ferguson before Birmingham's 1-1 draw at Arsenal on Saturday.

'I'm taking the Fifth Amendment on this one,' said McLeish. 'He didn't lay down the tactics for me. He just said: "Good luck, I hope you take something at Arsenal".' A knowing smile on McLeish's lips suggested there was more to it but the former Scotland boss is not daft enough to betray the confidence of his mentor after just six weeks in English football.
