A SCOTS missionary and his wife were yesterday sentenced to a year's hard labour in a Gambian jail after pleading guilty to criticising the African country's dictatorial regime.

David and Fiona Fulton were arrested last month after sending emails which made seditious comments about the predominantly Muslim country's government.
