FOR more than 100 years, its famous troupe of cancan girls have high-kicked on stage to the delight of the crowds. But it wasn't the dancers that brought the audience to its feet at the Moulin Rouge it was the sound of the bagpipes.

Traditionally, the last act of the night at the historic French cabaret club is the cancan, but last week it was the pipes and drums of Lothian and Borders Police Pipe Band who brought the curtain down.
