HERE'S a first. The Resident Evil franchise began as a game heavy on atmosphere and tension, spawned a clutch of poor movies which demanded dilution of the game's complexities, and with this fifth instalment sees the resulting simplicity of the movies imported back into the game. Are you still with me at the back? If you've played the previous adventures you're certainly in for quite a surprise -- but not necessarily a disappointment.

Things are simpler, less fraught and considerably less scary. But they are still gratifyingly camp, exciting and, most of all, fun.
