TO MY mind, school uniform is not a good idea. As a schoolgirl, I had very few clothes other than my school uniform and had to spend my whole life out of school dodging people I knew from school. My social life suffered and this has affected me ever since. I still lack confidence.
School uniform isn't a 'leveller'. Had there been non-uniform days when I was at school, I would have played truant and my academic education would have suffered, as well as any social education. None of my teachers spotted the way in which I avoided any social contact out of school when school uniform wasn't required. I didn't even think about school holidays.
