PRINCE Charles last night hit out at the nanny state for being overprotective of youngsters.

On his first visit to the Scottish parliament, he called for an army of young volunteers to help out in everything from the armed forces to the Coastguard and hospitals. And he said that giving teenagers more responsibility could help prevent problem behaviour.
