Summary

Cult vampire hit True Blood finally gets its terrestrial premiere this week, and is set to unleash its undead charm on a whole new audience. The US smash, starring The Piano's Anna Paquin (looking all grown up), is already on its second season across the Atlantic. Cable channel HBO, realising it had a hit on its hands, commissioned a second series only two episodes into the first - an incredible leap of faith when even Hollywood is feeling the effects of the credit crunch.

Sookie Stackhouse (Paquin), a Louisiana waitress who can read minds, begins a relationship with one of these vampires - handsome, 173-year-old Bill (Stephen Moyer) - while at the same time trying to find her grandmother's killer (as you do). True Blood, with its blend of soap opera, sex, teenage hormones and graphic violence, is a sexy, witty take on the Dracula tale.
