BRITAIN'S top judge warned last night that Labour's controversial plans for a Supreme Court will cost the taxpayer Pounds 50million.

Lord Woolf, the Lord Chief Justice, pledged to oppose the plan unless the Government comes up with new funding. Ministers have already spent more than Pounds 100,000 in an unsuccessful search for a building to house the court.
