I AGREE with Melanie Phillips (Mail) that our NHS can't be expected to maintain the 'illusion that everyone can have identical access to everything -- from IVF to gender-reassignment -- at all times'. That would be possible in an ideal world -- but we don't live in an ideal world.
Until the right amount of funding is available to treat all life- threatening and chronic conditions, unpopular decisions will have to be made by whichever government comes into power. As someone living with multiple sclerosis, which robbed me of my career when only in my 30s, I'm disillusioned with the constant emphasis on more politically correct and 'popular' conditions.See the full content of this document
