Summary
There are many good things to be said about The State Within (BBC1) - see Nick Griffiths' Pick Of The Day - but I'm not entirely convinced. It's tense, intriguing and complex, but there's some pretty clunky dialogue and pretty stiff acting. Sharon Gless's tough- nut Defense Secretary is a caricature, and there's a none-toosubtle subtext about ruthlessly pragmatic Yanks and oh-so-righteous Brits.
