THERE was good news yesterday for another victim of the Crumlin Hospital cutbacks, Shannon Condon. But no thanks to the HSE or to Health Minister Mary Harney. Shannon is to get her operation in a private hospital; it will be paid for by her father's private medical insurance. If it were not for this, Shannon would still be on the Crumlin waiting list.
However, we must not forget that Shannon is not alone. There are more than 60 other children who are still waiting for critical spinal surgery - and more than 160 children on the general waiting list at Crumlin.
