NASDAQ boss Robert Greifeld has begun his charm offensive with calls on two of the London Stock Exchange's biggest shareholders.

First on the list was the quaintly named Threadneedle Investments, owner of 13.5pc. Despite its very old City name it is, in fact, an offshoot of Ameriprise Financial which describes itself as a 'leading provider of financial solutions,' whatever that may mean.
