RETAILERS are still having a tough time as fears about interest rates and higher taxes keep shoppers at home. The British Retail Consortium said underlying sales fell 0.3pc in February, with furniture, electrical and clothes stores particularly hard hit.
Sales were also down in November and December, so the small rise seen in January appears to have been a temporary boost from the traditional winter sales.See the full content of this document
