AFTER two years in the wilderness since the World Cup, England are back as a major force. That message rang out, loud and clear, from Twickenham. And about time, too.

The rebuilding process which started in the autumn is moving on apace. A shame, really, that those two years were lost, but lost they were. The first year after the World Cup, when it appeared as though former England coach Sir Clive Woodward wasn't really interested, was a complete mess which, I think, was born out by Lawrence Dallaglio's decision to retire at the end of it.
