IF anyone has their finger on the pulse of Ulster Rugby, it's David Humphreys. The former out-half played the last of his 163 appearances for his province in May, bringing the curtain down on a glittering career that included 72 caps and 560 points for Ireland.

A return to the legal world was on the cards for the qualified solicitor before an offer in June from Ulster for the 36-year-old to take up a newlycreated position of operations director ensured he would remain a force at Ravenhill for the foreseeable future.
