HAS THAT nasty man gone? That's what the three-year-old girl said to the police who rescued her after she had been abducted by Craig Sweeney, sexually assaulted three times, then taken to meet Sweeney's paedophile mates for a bring-a-toddler party.

The mind buckles at the thought of what that child went through. Her mother says it would have been easier to get over a death - one of the saddest admissions I have ever heard. For, make no mistake, Sweeney has murdered innocence, even though the little girl was found alive.

To this revolting individual, Judge John Griffith Williams has just awarded a life sentence, but says he can apply for parole in five years.

Sweeney, who had already served three years for indecently assaulting a six-year-old girl, kidnapped the three-year-old from her house just weeks after his prison licence for the earlier crime expired.
