IT'S NOT fair to say, as the Opposition jibed in the Dail the other night, that Mary Harney has no moral compass. I believe that she has or, at least, that it was in good working order when she started out in politics as a bright, passionate, idealistic young woman more than 30 years ago.
It's just that over time that compass has become aligned to the very dysfunctional magnetic field of Irish electoral politics. And by that skewed gauge, 'right' is whatever helps you hang on to power and 'wrong' is anything that might put your status at risk.See the full content of this document
