IN REMEMBERING the young boys who served in World War I (Mail), let us not forget the 14, 15 and 16-year-old children who served in merchant ships in both World Wars.

Any sort of training was a minimum and usually after only six or eight weeks they faced the same bombs, mines and torpedoes as their adult shipmates in the North and South Atlantic and other seas.
