IT'S TRAGIC that so many people should declare that our soldiers who died in World War I gave their lives in vain. The archives for July/August 1914 reveal how the Kaiser sent his army into Belgium, despite a non-aggression pact he'd signed with Brussels, because it was 'the quickest route to Paris'.
The Belgians tried to defend themselves, expecting help from Britain and France, but that aid was delayed because of the speed of the German attack. Because they were resisted by the Belgians, the German army went on the rampage, raping, killing and burning.See the full content of this document
