CONSIDERING the loss of lives and limbs suffered by our brave servicemen and women, what has Operation Panther's Claw achieved? There is little reduction in opium fields, no elimination of the numbers of Al Qaeda or Taliban, and Osama bin Laden is still at large. It is an unwinnable war, a situation very similar to Vietnam.

David Gammam claims there is adequate equipment and the cause is justified (Letters). Should he feel as strongly as it appears, perhaps he would like to change places with my grandson, who goes to Afghanistan next month.
