I, TOO, spent time at a Baptist mother-and-baby home in Hampshire (Letters), when I was 19, in 1960.

We expectant mothers were obliged to work hard, scrubbing and polishing floors, working in the laundry or kitchen. We were sent out every day walking, for fresh air and exercise.
